Ready to Live

"If men are prepared to die, they are ready for anything."

- J.A. Alexander (1809-1860), was the son of Archibald A. Alexander, the first professor of Pinceton Seminary. He was also a beloved presbyterian pastor, known for his warm and experiential sermons, and a professor at the seminary with Charles Hodge. He knew over 30 languages and wrote first rate commentaries on the Psalms, Isaiah, Matthew and Mark. Hodge said of him, "I regard Dr. Joseph Addison Alexander as incomparably the greatest man I ever knew... his thorough orthodoxy, his fervent piety, humility, faithfulness in the discharge of his duties, and reverence for the Word of God, consecrated all of his other gifts."
